Do I need a referral from my doctor before attending Physical Therapy?

Direct access physical therapy in New York allows patients to receive physical therapy treatment without a doctor’s referral. This model permits individuals to see a licensed physical therapist for initial evaluation and treatment for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please intend to arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out intake forms. Personal ID, Insurance Card, Referral from MD (Not required but recommended).

Where are you located?

We are located at 444 S Fulton Ave, Ground Floor (ramp next to McDonald’s) in Mount Vernon, NY 10553. Conveniently situated along South Fulton Avenue, about an 8–10 minute walk from Mount Vernon East Metro-North Train Station; accessible via Bee-Line bus routes. Metered street parking is available nearby.

Will you take my insurance?

Cash, check, credit/debit cards and even a HSA/FSA spending card.

Can I schedule an appointment if I don't have insurance?

Yes! For the uninsured New Steps PT does have a cash rate along with a sliding scale for those facing financial hardship.
